IABC-Houston ESIG presented Rachel Parker, of Resonance Content Marketing, as the speaker for this month’s luncheon. Rachel covered the topic of trends in content marketing. Parker is CEO & Chief Geek of Resonance Content Marketing.
For those of you who are new to the topic, Wikipedia defines Content Marketing in the following manner:
Content marketing is any marketing that involves the creation and sharing of media and publishing content in order to acquire and retain customers. This information can be presented in a variety of formats, including news, video, white papers, e-books, infographics, case studies, how-to guides, question and answer articles, photos, etc.
I have been an on-again/off-again member of IABC-Houston since I was a college student. For those of you who don’t recognize the acronym, it’s the Houston Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. This is one of the largest professional organizations available to those of us in public relations. The ESIG is the Entrepreneur’s Special Interest Group, a special topic group within IABC-Houston for those who run their own shops.
She covered six trends:
- The workforce is changing.
- The importance of video increases.
- The importance of audio has increased.
- You will need money — just creating quality content is not enough, you may have to put some money into its placement.
- Mobile is vital.
- Quality.
It was a great session. Content Marketing is one of the most important things that businesses can do to brand themselves and differentiate themselves from the competition.
