Some of you may recall that I recently became a full-time member of the freelancing economy. Yes, I am a full-fledged solopreneur these days. So I was very pleased to read a recent article that Houston is the 12th best place to be a freelancer and that the city has the fifth highest self-employment income in the country. That’s good news for me.
By the way, other Texas cities did beat us in the ranking: Austin was #4 and Dallas #10. Two other Texas cities made the list below Houston: Plano at #18 and Fort Worth #20. So overall, Texas is a great place to be a freelancer.
According to NerdWallet, 10.64% of Houston households have self-employment income, averaging $41,473.96 a year in income. To be honest, I’m hoping to do better than that. Wish me luck.
