I’ve pulled together a few Storify boards from sessions I attended at the TechStreet Houston conference this week. I hope this helps you, in case you didn’t, or even if you did, attend.
The morning keynote speaker was Fred Trotter:
Fred Trotter is a healthcare data journalist and author. He is a technical blogger for O’Reilly Radar and is the co-author of the first Health IT O’Reilly book Hacking Healthcare. | www.fredtrotter.com/biography
Trotter’s speech was “Hacking: I use it to fix healthcare and you can use it to fix your industry.”
Hacking, the playful, irreverent approach to improving software and hardware can work in order areas. Healthcare has lots of rules and many of the rules are themselves the problem. Learn how breaking, bending or ignoring rules that should never have been there in the first place is the first step in revolutionary technical strategies that enable positive social change. Social change has always been about power and the Hacking mindset is all about negating inappropriate power relationships.
