Looks like Facebook is on a roll in pushing out updates that actually make sense. The most recent is the ability to fine-tune your news feed to “see” updates from those you select as the most important, both in friends and pages. You can choose which friends and pages get their updates placed at the top of your feed, ensuring you don’t miss them. And you can choose to “follow” and “unfollow” friends and pages, effectively selecting which updates you do want to miss.
How do you set this up?
For “preferred” updates, you’ll have to go to News Feed Preferences (available in the preferences tab), tap on the “Following” buttone next to a friend’s profile, and click on “See First.” You also can do this by visiting the friends’ page.
To unfollow a friend, take the same steps but choose “unfollow” in the pop up tab instead of “See First.”
This will be helpful for me. Right now I have my preferred friends set up to give me notifications when they update. This may reduce the “noise” from those notifications if it can replace the need for them.
It’s nice when Facebook updates make sense.
