Crisis Communications is one of those areas of Public Relations that many people treat like it’s a mystery. And to many, I guess, it is. The fast pace of technology and the changing roles of media have made Crisis Communications a bigger challenge than ever before. And we need to be ready.
I came across this video from Ragan Communications, discussing how (ideally, or not) we are starting to interact with media via mobile devices. I am sharing because it’s an interesting topic. It’s a short video, but worth watching.
I will say, in advance, I haven’t had to do this (go “live” in an interview via Skype off my iPhone), but I can see the probability of it happening in the not too far future. Not I have to get an iPhone that actually supports these activities (mine is really really old).
Enjoy!

Ready to go live on nationwide TV? You’d better be. Gerard Braud, a media coach and former network TV reporter who lives near New Orleans, says PR pros must master handheld technology for live broadcasts–just as he did during a hurricane.
This video clip is taken from Ragan’s new distance-learning portal. The site contains more than 200 hours of case studies, video presentations, and interactive courses.
